The Gospel

Paul warned of “a different gospel” and “another Jesus” (Galatians 1:6–7; 2 Corinthians 11:4). Most pulpits preach a gospel about Jesus and stop there. Who He is and what His blood accomplishes matter absolutely — “there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). But that is not the whole message He preached.

The Gospel of the Kingdom

Jesus came “preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God” and said He was sent for that purpose (Mark 1:14; Luke 4:43). He told His followers to seek first that Kingdom (Matthew 6:33). After His resurrection He spent forty days speaking of “things pertaining to the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:3). Paul, under house arrest in Rome, was still “preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 28:30–31). Christ said this same Gospel would be preached in all the world as a witness — then the end would come (Matthew 24:14).

What that Kingdom is

The Kingdom of God is the government God will establish on this earth when Christ returns. At the seventh trumpet, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ” (Revelation 11:15). He will reign as King of kings (Revelation 19:16). Satan will be bound (Revelation 20:1–3). The saints will be changed to immortality and reign with Him a thousand years (1 Corinthians 15:50–54; Revelation 20:4–6). The Apostles will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes (Matthew 19:28). This is on the earth — “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5) — not an endless idle heaven.

Under that reign, nations will learn war no more (Isaiah 2:2–4). The blind will see, the lame will leap (Isaiah 35:5–6). Even the nature of animals will change (Isaiah 11:6–9). “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end” (Isaiah 9:7). That is Good News.

The warning before it comes

Christ also prophesied the time leading to His return: false Christianity, wars, famines, pestilences, persecution, the abomination of desolation, and great tribulation so severe that unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved (Matthew 24). God’s people are to watch — and to warn. A silent watchman is guilty (Ezekiel 33:3–6). Gospel and warning belong together.

How you enter

Repent. Believe the Gospel. Accept His sacrifice. Obey His commandments as He lives in you by the Spirit. Endure. The Kingdom is the hope of mankind — and the calling of those God is opening eyes to see it now.
