The Holy Days

God said, “The feasts of the LORD… these are My feasts” (Leviticus 23:2). They are not “Jewish leftovers.” They are His appointed times — a statute across generations (Leviticus 23:14, 21). Jesus kept them. His Church kept them. His millennial Kingdom will keep them (Zechariah 14:16–19).

Christ and the apostles

As a boy He went up to Jerusalem for Passover (Luke 2:41–42). He kept Passover with His disciples and gave the New Testament symbols of bread and wine (Luke 22:14–20). He kept Tabernacles and the Last Great Day (John 7). After His death, the Church still kept these Feasts — Passover and Unleavened Bread among Gentiles at Corinth (1 Corinthians 5:8; 11:23–26), Pentecost in Acts 2 and still in Paul’s schedule decades later (Acts 20:16; 1 Corinthians 16:8). The record does not hand us Christmas or Easter. Those came later, borrowed from other worship and stamped with His name. God warned Israel not to learn the way of the nations and call it worship (Deuteronomy 12:30–32; Jeremiah 10:2). Christ said men honor Him with lips while teaching commandments of men (Mark 7:6–8).

What they picture

Kept in order, the Holy Days open God’s plan:

  1. Passover — Christ’s sacrifice for sin (1 Corinthians 11:23–26).
  2. Unleavened Bread — putting out sin; taking in sincerity and truth (1 Corinthians 5:6–8).
  3. Pentecost — the Spirit given to the firstfruits Church (Acts 2; James 1:18).
  4. Trumpets — the Day of the Lord and Christ’s return at the last trumpet (1 Corinthians 15:52; Revelation 11:15).
  5. Atonement — Satan bound; mankind made at one with God (Revelation 20:1–3).
  6. Tabernacles — the thousand-year reign of Christ and the saints on earth (Revelation 20:4–6).
  7. The Last Great Day — the great judgment when the rest of the dead rise and at last receive a real chance to know Him (John 7:37–39; Revelation 20:11–13).

Why it matters

Weekly Sabbath and annual Sabbaths are a sign between God and His people (Ezekiel 20:12, 20). They rehearse the whole plan every year — not a sentimental birth-and-bunnies calendar that Scripture never commanded. If God is showing you this, leave the counterfeits. Keep the days He called His own.
