Terms of Service — Chosen Army

Operator: Chosen Army / Rift Software (“we,” “us,” “our”)
Service: Chosen Army at chosen.army and related apps/APIs (the “Service”)

By creating an account, redeeming an invite, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

This is an operational draft for product launch. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney.

1. What Chosen Army is

Chosen Army is an invite-only social network for fellowship among people seeking biblical Christianity (posts/feed, profiles, chat, and related features). Public Beliefs pages describe the faith framing of the community. The Service is provided by Rift Software / Chosen Army.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher age required where you live) and able to form a binding contract.
  • Access is invite-only unless we say otherwise. Invite codes are personal; do not sell or publicly spam them.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • One person per account unless we authorize otherwise. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Community standards (Christian social network)

You agree to use the Service in a manner consistent with a respectful Christian community, including:

  • No harassment, threats, stalking, doxxing, or targeted abuse
  • No sexual exploitation, pornography, or content sexualizing minors
  • No scams, phishing, malware, or attempts to break the Service
  • No hate or violence advocacy against people; vigorous disagreement about ideas is not the same as abuse, but personal attacks and harassment are not allowed
  • No impersonation of others or of Chosen Army staff
  • Respect copyright and other people’s rights; only post content you have the right to share
  • Keep chat and DMs lawful; do not use private messages to evade bans for abuse

We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these standards or harm the community, with or without notice when needed for safety.

4. Your content

  • You retain ownership of content you create.
  • You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your content as needed to operate and improve the Service (including backups, CDN/media delivery, and showing posts/chat to intended recipients).
  • You are responsible for your content. We do not endorse every post.
  • You can delete content you control where the product allows; copies may remain in backups or logs for a limited time.

5. Our Service; no sale of your data

  • We provide the Service “as is” within commercial reasonableness for an early-stage product.
  • We do not sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for how we collect and use information to provide the Service (account, content, security logs, etc.).
  • Features may change, break, or be discontinued as we iterate. Invite beta access may be limited or revoked.

6. Acceptable use — technical

You may not:

  • Scrape, bulk-export, or harvest member data outside normal use of the UI/API
  • Bypass rate limits, auth, invite gates, or security controls
  • Reverse engineer except where local law allows
  • Use bots or automation that harm Service stability or spam members without our written permission

7. Intellectual property

The Service, branding, Beliefs site copy we publish, software, and design are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse them except as allowed by normal use of the Service or with written permission.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, contact legal@chosen.army with: your contact info, description of the work, location of the material, a good-faith statement, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act. We may remove material and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Chosen Army is a community platform, not a church membership office, counseling service, or emergency service. For spiritual pastoral care, contact your congregation’s ministry.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits; in those places, limits apply to the fullest extent allowed.

11. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or law, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for violations, risk, legal reasons, or Service wind-down. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion via settings or support@chosen.army. Provisions that should survive (IP, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity) survive termination.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where allowed by law. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory local consumer law says otherwise. Courts in California will have jurisdiction, subject to applicable consumer protections.
