What Jesus Taught

Jesus said, “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). The Church He founded did not vanish. It was never meant to invent a new religion every century. If He walked the earth today, He would teach what He taught then — not the traditions men later stacked on top of His name.

The message He preached

He came “preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God” (Mark 1:14–15). He sent His disciples to preach that same Kingdom (Luke 9:2). He said this Gospel would go to all nations as a witness, and then the end would come (Matthew 24:14). He also warned of the trials and deceptions that lead up to His return (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21). A church that only talks about His person — and never about His Kingdom or His warnings — is not carrying the full message He left.

Law, not lawlessness

Forgiveness through His blood is a gift. No one earns it (Ephesians 2:8–9). That gift is not a license to break God’s law. He told the rich young ruler, “If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17). In the Sermon on the Mount He said He did not come to destroy the Law, but to fulfill it — and then He magnified it: not only murder, but hatred; not only adultery, but lust (Matthew 5:17–28). “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).

The day He kept holy

As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath (Luke 4:16). He is “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28). After His resurrection, the apostolic Church kept that same seventh day — including among Gentiles (Acts 13:42–44; 17:2; 18:4). He even told end-time disciples to pray that their flight would not be on the Sabbath (Matthew 24:20). Sunday-as-Sabbath is not His teaching.

The days He observed

He kept the annual Holy Days of Scripture — Passover, Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles, and the Last Great Day (Leviticus 23; Luke 2:41–42; John 7). His Church kept them after His death (Acts 2; 1 Corinthians 5:8; 11:23–26). Christmas and Easter are not in that list. God calls these Feasts His feasts.

A little flock

He called His followers a “little flock” (Luke 12:32). “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him” (John 6:44). God is not calling everyone now. If your eyes are opening to the Kingdom He preached, the commandments He kept, the Sabbath and Holy Days He observed — that is not an accident. Prove it in Scripture. Then walk in it.
